With more than 18,000 students and 1,000 teachers, Brentwood Union Free School District in Long Island is one of our largest Quizalize deployments. Originally the English department saw Quizalize as a replacement for vocab.com, but after discovering Quizalize’s powerful standards aligned progress tracking capabilities that work for any subject, Brentwood decided on a district wide roll out for all grades and subjects.
As part of the roll out, we’ve also digitised more than 100 NYSED released tests. With each question tagged to the relevant Next Generation standard, teachers can get instant standards aligned mastery data on every student in any grade and subject. Our Mastery Dashboards show each student’s learning gaps in real-time and allow teachers to personalize teaching and learning in the classroom on a daily basis. Even better, these digitised released tests are completely free to use on a free Quizalize teacher account!
Quick Access
Improved functionality at a lower cost
Quizalize is used each year by more than 3 million students in over 100 countries around the world. In the USA, Quizalize is hugely popular. In Texas, it’s widely used for Science; in North Carolina, for Social Studies; and in Georgia, for World Languages. However, many districts, including Brentwood, see Quizalize not only as a step up in formative assessment, but also a way to lower costs. Instead of each department paying for a different application, Quizalize enables every department to have a high quality formative assessment application at a fraction of the overall cost.
A Smarter Way to Track Progress

Brentwood wanted a better way to understand how students were doing throughout the learning process. Instead of waiting for big tests at the end of a unit, they wanted real-time insight. That is when they started using Quizalize.
With short, focused quizzes built into lessons, teachers could quickly see who was on track and who needed extra help. This allowed them to adjust lessons immediately and support students at the right time, not weeks later.
From Paper to Digital: Bringing State Standards to Life

One of the most impactful things Brentwood asked us to do was to digitise the entire set of learning objectives from the New York State Education Department. These standards had traditionally only existed on paper, making it difficult and time-consuming for teachers to use them effectively in daily lessons.
Together with the Brentwood team, we transformed those paper documents into ready-to-use, interactive quizzes available directly on Quizalize. Every standard is now clearly structured, easy to assign, and linked to real-time student data.
This shift has made a big difference for teachers. Instead of spending hours turning state expectations into classroom materials, they can now focus on teaching, while staying fully aligned with curriculum goals. It has saved time, reduced workload, and improved consistency across classrooms.
What began as a Brentwood initiative is now a resource available to any school using Quizalize. A great example of how one school’s forward-thinking approach can benefit many others.
More Confidence for Students

Quizzes used to make students nervous. Now, they actually enjoy them. In Quizalize, quizzes are made to be fun. Teachers can add games, timers, team activities, and even turn them into friendly competitions. It is not just about right or wrong answers. It is about learning in a way that keeps students interested and involved.
Because the format is fun and the feedback is instant, students do not see quizzes as something to fear. They are more relaxed, more confident, and more open to trying. When teachers say, “Let’s do a quiz,” the class is ready, and sometimes even excited.
This small change has had a big impact. Students are more focused, more willing to try, and less afraid to get something wrong. Learning feels easier, more relaxed, and something they can enjoy. Not just get through.
A Simple Shift with Big Impact
What Brentwood has done is not complicated, but it is powerful. By using quizzes not only for testing but as part of everyday learning, they have created a system that works for both teachers and students.
Their success shows how a small change in classroom practice, supported by the right tools, can lead to stronger learning outcomes and a more confident learning environment.
